Bank History

On February 3, 2003, Community First Bank of Indiana (FKA Community First Bank of Howard County) made history by opening the first new bank chartered in Howard County in over 55 years.  In a span of less than 3 month from the date shares of bank stock became available for sale, CFB became operational raising 25% more capital than required by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions.  The success of the initial capital offering is attributed to the overwhelming support for the vision and creation of a new way to do banking in our community – a bank that is locally owned, locally governed and staffed with experienced bankers.

A foundation that started as one branch with sixteen employees has grown into three branches with over forty employees.  Our Dixon Road Branch opened in June of 2006 followed by our Hoffer Street Branch opening in July of 2008.  In the summer of 2007, our Private Banking Department was added and we launched our Generations Journey Travel Club in 2009.  These great additions have helped us grow into the third largest bank in Howard County.

One of our core beliefs is that we must be actively involved in making our community a better place to live and do business.  Our staff and directors are committed to the long term success of not only Community First but our community and are actively involved in numerous civic and non-profit organizations.  Our slogan, This is your Community, This is your Bank”, is not just a slick marketing phrase; it is why we’re here and what we’re all about.  We believe Community First Bank has been voted Kokomo’s Best Bank for the last eight years because of our staff’s commitment to our customers and our community.
